Last night I made the ambitious decision to join The Color Run, a 5k that celebrates healthiness, happiness and individuality. Also known as the happiest 5k on the planet, The Color Run will leave me pasted with many different colors as I approach the finish line. Now as much as I’m excited to join in on this great opportunity, I can’t even begin to tell you how much I despise running. Lets put some emphasis on that. I seriously, truly, absolutely do not like to run.
So why participate in a 5k, you ask? The answer’s simple.
I have always wanted to take part in a great cause such as this and have always changed my mind because I simply don’t want to take the time to run. The best part about The Color run is you’re not actually required to run. You can finish the race at your own pace and enjoy the paint splatters the entire way. Not only that, but before I had the excuse that I was completely out of shape and simply did not have the time. I don’t have that excuse anymore.
I have been making a concious effort to make myself healthier. So far I have dropped from 152.2 pounds down to 136.8! I have done things the right way and that’s what counts. I still have a little ways to go until I hit my goal of 120, but I will get there. As you know, I’m only 5’1″ and my healthy weight range is between 96-132 pounds! Due to my strenuous job, heart condition, and petite figure, my doctor would ideally like me at 113, but because of some muscle mass I’ve gained from my job, 120 pounds will make her happy.
So I spoke with one of the nurses that I work with, joined the team for my unit, and on June 22 will be participating in my first 5k! The Color Run has many events coming up all over the US this summer so what are you waiting for? If you want to participate in your first 5k, this is the one to do!
